There was no Labor Day holiday for us this year. We hope everyone had a chance to cook out and enjoy the nice weekend. It did rain here on Saturday, but it was a blessing. It cleared the air, and Sunday and today have been very nice.
The sunset was beautiful last night, but we could only see a little of it.
On these nice days, everyone just wants to be outside. These clear days don't last forever. The dust will return.
We did do some shopping on Saturday. You think going to Crabtree Mall on Black Friday is tough, you need to try the underground shopping centers they have here in Baoding. Lots of people, very warm and humid. Hundreds of vendors with everything you might need for your apartment. You are supposed to haggle on the price, but we have to get better at that. We need to know more Chinese to do it right. We bought a couple of stools and a lamp and we were outta there. I'm glad we had the stools while we waited for the bus.
I was worn out. Some of the local ladies thought I looked funny. Na you zen me yang? That's Chinese for 'So what?' Glad we brightened their day.
Once we got back to campus, we stopped in the cafeteria for one of our favs, Kung Po Chicken. Here's the chef making it up fresh.
Hope you all have a great Labor Day. Have a cheeseburger and corn on the cob for us.
Hi Paul and Mar. Happy Labor Day. I don't know how many more Labor Days we will have left if the Republicans get in, but our flag is flying. We are celebrating Jack Losso, union carpenter for 50 years, Elinor Dewees, union shop steward for the NJT urnpike Authority, Bill Dewees Sr., electrical union for RCA back in the day when TVs were repaired, Debbie Dewees, teacher extrodinaire, teachers union, Katie Dewees, ditto, Bill Dewees, Carpenter's union. God bless the ones that built this country and continue to influence the younger generation in a postive manner. Hats off to Paul and Marianne Williams for their quest to unite the world through language and peace! Love, Billy
ReplyDeleteDid you find the Goodberry’s in the underground shopping? Guys look like your enjoying your Kung Po Chicken is that Chinese for “Char-Grill”. Been following your weather – not much different than Raleigh’s.
ReplyDeleteGuys take care… did you get to see any of the NY vs Dallas game?

No Goodberrys in Baoding. We had some ice cream at a little shop close to campus. It was ok. We were the only customers so the lady in the shop wanted to talk to us. It didn't matter that she didn't speak English and we are very limited in our Chinese.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get any sports news other than the internet. We get one English TV station and its mostly Chinese news.
